The caring professional staff at Skin Specialty Dermatology understands open communication and patient education are at the core of great healthcare. They help patients from throughout New York City understand their skin care needs, issues and treatment options with confidential dermatology consultation appointments at their Midtown East office.
A dermatology consultation is an opportunity to talk with your dermatologist about all your skin concerns and to have your skin evaluated so you can understand what you need to do to keep your skin healthy and to look and feel your best. It's also a time to ask about at-home skin care routines and to learn about the steps you can take to prevent skin cancer and keep your skin in optimal health.
When you first come to the office, you'll need to fill out some forms that will provide an overview of your health. During the actual consultation, your skin will be carefully evaluated to determine what kinds of issues you're experiencing. Next, you'll learn about the treatment options that can help your skin be as healthy as possible. If you're interested in cosmetic treatments, you'll also learn about all your options and the complete treatment process so you'll know what to expect. A consultation visit is intended to establish open communication between the patient and the doctor, so be sure to ask any questions or voice any concerns you may have.
If you're taking any kind of medication or supplement, including vitamins or herbs, you'll need to include that in your medical information provided during your first visit. You may want to bring your bottles in or you can make a list. You should also be prepared to discuss your personal medical history as well as the history of your immediate family members. Some patients also like to make a list of their concerns so they don't forget to ask important questions about their skin or treatment options. Finally, be ready to remove any makeup so your skin can be fully evaluated.
We participate with most insurance plans. Please notify us of your insurance plan when making an appointment and present your insurance information upon arrival to the office.
If your insurance plan requires you to have a referral, you must obtain the referral from your primary care physician PRIOR to your arrival at the office. Insurance plans which require a referral from the primary care physician will not allow us to treat you under your insurance without the proper referral.
If you have an insurance deductible, payment for visits is due until your deductible has been satisfied, at which time we will accept your insurance for services that are covered. All insurance co-payments are due at the time of your visit.
Please be advised that there is a returned check fee of $30.00.
